About

Stephanie Yang (she/her)
Bachelor of Arts, Master of Counseling

So no one told you life was going to be this way. Life happens and sometimes it's tough. I believe in a realistic approach to therapy (salty language included) and real self-care (good-bye curated Instagram self-care posts, hello hiding from your kids in the pantry to have a hot cup of coffee) and will meet you where you are at. I believe hurt is often rooted in old wounds caused through relationships across the lifespan and as such, healing happens through relationships, including the therapeutic relationship.

I practice in the areas of substance use disorders, PTSD, attachment trauma, parenting, and domestic violence. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and use techniques from acceptance and commitment therapy, feminist therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and attachment-based therapy. I come from a harm-reduction approach, am racial justice allied, sex worker allied, and LGBTQ2S+ friendly. I know that both healing and pain come in waves and in the wise words of Ted Lasso: "I promise you there is something worse out there than being sad, and that's being alone and being sad. Ain't no one in this room alone

Quote of the Week

“Courage doesn’t happen when you have all the answers. It happens when you are ready to face the questions you have been avoiding your whole life.”
-Shannon Alder

Coping Tip of the Week

Stop where you are. Plant your feet into the ground and sit or stand up as straight as you can. Open your palms and close your eyes. Visualize yourself as a tree and your feet are the roots that ground you in life. Take as many deep breaths as you need to ground yourself to the present moment.
